I read that McCartney plans to release a funky new-old tune and mentions interesting inspiration for the project at the time it was recorded.

"McCartney, usually regarded as the most melodically minded Beatle, told the BBC he had a long-standing interest in avant-garde music. He said "Carnival of Light" was inspired by experimental composers John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen."

Hey Paul!!! Join us!!!! You're hanging around the wrong classical crowd mate. I mean, I want to know why you've digressed from Sgt. Pepper's to this choral music. You do consider those influences you mentioned for "carnival of light" classical right? I really hope you're not pandering to the "academics," because can you hear em, they're talking behind your back, saying you're a phony. Wait, forget that. Lets start a band!

You know, heh, I think that would be the ultimate in artistic coolness.

I ran into a guy on a recording forum who I was convinced for a short time was McCartney [embarrassed shrug]. He had recorded a vocal piece and posted it there... the voice, the arrangement, particular things about the feel of the instrumental parts, even his manner in responding to thread comments hit me as something McCartney could have done if he was really inspired and trying to break out of his celebrity confines.

While we're waiting, just for fun, Paul and Ringo, lacking guitarists, should get together with Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, lacking bass and drums, and call themselves "The Who-tles". (But will Paulie be willing to sing "Boris the Spider? Will Pete have to accompany "Yesterday"? Will Ringo demolish his drumset after "M-M-My Generation"?)

The ultimate what-could-have-been Beatles moment, as far as the avant-garde is concerned, is the collaborative concert with Stockhausen that never even got to the meeting stage. A meeting was set up at Lukas Foss' apartment to discuss a joint concert which was deliberately intended to bridge the world of avant-garde and pop. However, there was a massive snowstorm that made driving down from Connecticut awfully difficult for Karlheinz, and the Beatles' rep never made it.

I'm gonna run out and get a copy the day it is released. Then play it backwards.

Well, almost everything: it is lacking "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Past Masters 1 & 2". But here is one of the lacking tunes in 30":

You know it! Can't wait to especially get the mono box, and to see what miracles were brought in to make "She Loves You" absoloutly clean (due to the initial digital remastering, all of the edits and glitches were made apparent; check out the Past Masters No.1, SLY is a mess (sorry to spoil it for you)).

The other thing Beatlepeople are looking forward to is the Beatles Trivial Pursuit game. All of the questions were written by Bruce Spizer (tax attorney by day, Beatle scholar by night; his books are as far from pedantic tomes, but rather histories of the Fabs in the US)).
