... is enough for a lifetime. Why should we listen to anything more?

It is rich, always beautiful, intelligent, "humane", sometimes sweet, sometimes aggressive, expresses a whole lot of emotions but always in a "contained" way - in one word it reflects the totality of life. It is even "scientific"...

Does his "style" have any flaws? I don't think so...

Tell me if you agree! Or contradict me (if you dare)! :)

categorizing just kills the experience! don't do that!

Steve's music is awesome. As far as the type of music he writes, its the tops. However, I wouldn' t suggest anyone simply listen to minimalistic-style band music exclusively as much as I would wish anyone to exclusively listen to romantic music.

Holy s*** guys, imagine waking up and seeing this on the site: You're too kind and, believe it or not, I'm at a loss for words except to say many thanks for the acknowledgment!!

It's time to start an objective discussion about your music!

I like Steve's stuff. He says what he means . . .

What'd be a reason then for not saying what one meant?

I dig Steve's work very much and am glad to have found it.
But I also dig listening to my faucet drip.
And by the way, to my brain/ear, compairing Steve's work to a dripping faucet and all it contains is meant as a huge compliment.
However, I would not want to give up one for the other.
Call the plumber and crank Steve?
Dunno.
The choice of listening to everything or only Steve is kinda odd me thinks...

Trendiness, monetary considerations, if composing soundtracks the needs of the film, the dictates of a patron or sponser, all sorts of reasons . . . ;-)

Just want to add my voice to the choir: Genuinely dig Steve's music. Intelligent and accessible, complex and simple. Thanks for sharing it here, Steve.

Go Steve! I hate to pile on here, but it's great having a composer of Steve's stature and accomplishments be a regular here!

Steve already knows what a fan I am. I probably wouldn't be doing what I do without his (and a few others) influence. I am fortunate to live in the same area, and our paths have crossed more than a few times over the years. I have had the pleasure of presenting his group several times at my RealNewMusic event (www.realnewmusic.com), and continue to be blown away. Besides, without him, I probably wouldn't have met Tom Waits.

Now, before his head swells too much, I have to say that I am grateful for the rest of you as well. I am grateful that there is so much wonderful music here, and that you all keep me trying to keep my hat in the ring, as it were. I think the notion that composers are competitors (probably mostly a result of the academics) is a bunch of junk. There's plenty of audience out there. We just have to get our music to them.

Keep up the great work everybody! You too Steve!!!
