NetNewMusic

The Net New Music Community Since 1994

I've been enjoying our new listening facility here. Man, we have a lot of interesting music here and I see that the new player has been bringing in even more uploads. I added 4 new artists to the database today. I've reloaded about a 100 times and still haven't seen my name! Interesting...

Who have you guys found? I've been enjoying Phil Brownlee's miniatures, a lot of interesting Indonesian music (which I stupidly forgot to write down which ones I liked). Lots of electronic music... and I've been reminded of folks I already knew about such as Sparrow and Kondor...

Random Listen
Complete Alphabetical Listing of All NNM Artists

Current # of NNM artists with music: 383

Also for those who missed it, I've made a Random Listen page which has a direct link to the artist now playing.

Bernd Buerklin, who I think only joined recently.

Stunningly beautiful pieces.

I've never heard accordion used like this before, it's so refreshing.

Bernd Buerklin

Yeah, he just added me as an FB friend and came to NNM. Cool guy too! ;) He told me he's looking for microtonal accordion music. I'm not sure how that would work, but if anybody knows of any, please contact him!

Jeff, it's funny that you mention having reloaded a 100 x's and haven't seen your name. I've reloaded at least 50 or more times and have had the same results. Also, some pieces keep coming back - over days. Interesting....

I haven't seen your name either! The odds of 1 out of 352 coming up are the same every time, since I corrected the randomness. So it's pretty random.

I'm waiting for Jeff to start selling "sponsored links" or "priority points".

That's how Google struck it rich... :=)

Random is fine for serendippity. The more parameters that are searchable, the more of a resource it can become.

Easy, right up until you have to do it...

Oh that's good to know. Since I was the first name in the database and I was using a random number scaled by the size of the database, I started thinking my name might not ever come up! Hehe... thanks though... I wish I could have heard the premiere in 2007. All women harp sextet with a kind of light show and a drummer and bass player... Naccara

Also, there's quite a few members who haven't put their name with their work. If you know who you are, edit your playlist and put your name there, for the future.

There are some that come up too, that are no name and the title actually looks like a YouTube link.

Yeah, eventually I'll just have to ban these folks to get rid of those files, especially if their music is something vaguely commercial and then has been kind of orphanned through lack of activity here or whatever...
