I like that: Glacial Improvisation!

if we take composition as "glacial improvisation" the moment of being is delightful to be sure. however, i find the moments of transendence are hit or miss when listening benchmarks are brought to bear. increasingly the stuff i create and suffer through because of my own inability to translate, on later listenings becomes the most interesting. and for that work, the clarity is so pure there is no illusion of "mind left body." rather it's "hyper-here." in hyper-here creation existance the imperfections, preceived or other wise, are immense, but dimminish in the light listening. and perhaps it is in listening that the mind opens up beyond creation/reaction etc. and consumes. the living eat the dead and so on. immersive consumption is a wonderful thing when it works. and this leads to the listening space, and the acoustics of hallways and rooms and all the potential for creating an immersive space for listeners to explore with their own unique aural perceptions.
or maybe not.
hard to say.

Oh yeah, listening. If I don't get immersed I forget to listen ;-)

For me 'composing' comes all in a hurry, in a rush of inspiration, after which I'll usually abandon a piece if I've not been compeletely immersed in the editing/recording process.

Are you interested in immersion during the composing process or seeking the immersive experience (which I think is paramount) in the listening experience? What happens in the composing process for me is just whatever, work... a task.

Yeah, it happens quite often.
But immersion is not my main concern.

When 'we' compose, does this occur?
