it could've been a good thing. I read an article about English teachers in a public school moved their class into SL and children loved it!

Greg, this sounds very nice ("The more people who are successful (ie earning from what they want to do) the more chance we all have of being successful.")
I just can't see at the moment how would it work in reality.

Venues (and marketing strategies) ... depends on what kind of music you make. Something that works for Greg wouldn't automatically work for you or me.
Now, how you decide what kind of music to write: in my case that's easy. I write what I can (and partly what I'm commissioned). I don't feel that i have any choice.
I hope that my music is powerful enough to find its place in society. But if not, why bother? Why should I sell something nobody wanted to buy?

But this page looks really strong! Have potential... :)
