How do you get past your "inspiration deficits" ??

How do you get past your "inspiration deficits" ?? I know that for some time now I have 'wanted' to write something new, but the 'muse' is still sitting in her corner, watching the McNeil News Hour. How do I rouse her and feel inspired?

How do you get yourself through the proverbial creative dry spell??

I'd like to know (and can use some help from my friends here) and perhaps many of us could benefit from the combined wisdom of the group.

So, what say you?

Thanks. - CM

I like it. interesting lines, nice accompanying chord ideas, obviously a superior musical thinker. Are those orchestral samples? which ones do you use? nice. You're using traditional forms, but harmonically advanced.

Nice neo ramantic line almost reminds me of Britten and Barber. I've been into trading CDs if you're interested. Send me a line. Take care and have a great New Years

Enjoyed listening. Nice work. Liked the angular lines in At Dusk.

Chris,

Thanks for your kind words regarding "Gretel". I've spent some time listening to the excerpts on your page; I really enjoy the sound world you're creating--I look forward to hearing more!

I find your vision of motion in 'Picture with a White Border' -- propulsion embedded in hesitation, balanced hot and cool -- pretty seductive. Are these excerpts? Or can I encourage you to keep developing your material?

And I love your sense of harmony in Parisian Sketch -- wow, especially at 1:47, after the break --

Hello,
Thanks for your comment. I was listening to your stuff, and I really dig your sound. What's funny is that the string quartet was playing at the same time as the piano solo, and it sounded quite cool as well as by itself (somewhat Carter-ish)- I think that's a really good sign! Good luck with future performances, and let me know if you're ever having something done in the New England area.
