i remember Lenny Bernstein, drunk off his ass, on tv accepting some award or other at the grammys and slurring out, "there's only two kinds of music- good music and bad music" I guess that pretty much sums it up.
you just get scores + recordings of what interests you and study away. depending on what you are interested in, you may need to learn tonal theory, atonal theory, stochastic algorithms, sonogram interpretation, c-sound programming, i-ching, etc.
That guitar was for my brother! :) He is the classic guitarrist in the family, although he's main activity today is the musicology. It is interesting how the laws of chance put us together.... My brother still has that guitar! And all thanks to YOUR recomendations maybe. Listening to your music had a pleasant constrasting effect.
