i remember Lenny Bernstein, drunk off his ass, on tv accepting some award or other at the grammys and slurring out, "there's only two kinds of music- good music and bad music" I guess that pretty much sums it up.
you just get scores + recordings of what interests you and study away. depending on what you are interested in, you may need to learn tonal theory, atonal theory, stochastic algorithms, sonogram interpretation, c-sound programming, i-ching, etc.

It is interesting how the laws of chance put us together.... My brother still has that guitar! And all thanks to YOUR recomendations maybe. Listening to your music had a pleasant constrasting effect.
