Award-winning composer/guitarist James Lentini holds the position of Dean of the School of Fine Arts and professor of Music at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, overseeing departments and programs that include Art, Architecture/Interior Design, Music, Theater, Miami University Art Museum, and the Performing Arts Series. Prior to arriving at Miami University, Dr. Lentini served as the founding Dean of the School of Art, Media, and Music at The College of New Jersey from 2003-2007 and as Acting Chair, Associate Chair, and professor of Music at Wayne State University. His honors include the Segovia International Composition Prize, first prize in the Bluffton College Choral Composition Contest, the Atwater-Kent Composition Award (first Prize), the McHugh Composition Prize, a grant from "Meet the Composer," and several Standard Panel awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). As an arts administrator, Dr. Lentini has led efforts to incorporate technology into the curriculum, including the development of innovative programs in music technology, digital arts, and cross-disciplinary media.
