I am afraid many contemporary composers here in the US have dislike for voice. Some dislike any vocal production with serious roots in bel canto.
It's interesting to see what is going on in VErona. I've only visited there once, but enjoyed my visit heartily. My wife's family originated in Verona and nearby spot. She still has relatives in Verona. Perhaps some day my family and I will be able to visit Verona and hear new music. That would be a treat.
