Congrats on landing a job. Not easy these days for anyone. Also, good to hear about the recital projects. Best wishes!

Preach on sister! The traditional approach to teaching music theory has befuddled, confused, bored and generally turned off so many minds. Your point about theory being an after-product of practice is largely missed in most classes. Frequently, even…

Sounds like a good plan. Why do so many people insist on hacking away at old ground? Rarely does a new flute recording come out with much originality. Are you still in H'burg? Surely there is an adventuresome pianist around. Although I have the sam…

I haven't been a member here for long, but even with less activity there is substance here. I feel connected with other composers. It's great to share your work with others who write in a completely different genre, but still appreciate what you do…

This an amazing work. It certainly opens the door for an altered state of spirit. Thanks, Dave, for sharing it with the world.

This piece just seems to roll around you the whole time you're listening. Thanks for sharing.

There you go! Made just a tad bit of difference, huh? ;-) Using echo/delay/reverb is an easy first step, but it's also easy to overdo it. Then the effect takes over the music and heads right into cliche-ville. For a first attempt you actualy did a p…

Sorry, Steve. No intent to offend.

Okay, so I went back to the file, dabbled a bit, then finally decided to check the original. I had neglected to check stereo form the mp3 mixdown, so I did another mixdown in stereo. Just uploaded it. See what you think. You are so right about the o…

My first electronic attempt.

Well, I just uploaded my first attempt in the electronic realm called "Lacrimose". It's a pretty simple modification of melodic structure. At least I got my toes wet. Comments appreciated.

Guess I'm no longer a blog virgin either.

Hi John & thanks. Being in Houston now, you know I think anybody holding down the new-music fort in LA has my support!!

Thanks for the comment, and I can't believe there is another new music composer in in Louisiana. I thought I was alone in this artless desert. How is the new music scene in Northern La? I imagine it's pretty conservative like down here.

Hey John,

Have you ever written something for saxophone? I'm interested in all kinds of new music. Drop me a line.

Hi John,

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my site and my music. I truly appreciate your feedback especially with regard to Gretel. I'd be happy to send you a score if you'd like to check it out in more detail.

As for My Score Store.. They seem to have put together a solid website although they still don't have the tech to list in anything other than euros. Frankly, this hasn't mattered much as I haven't sold a thing through them. I'm beginning to think that these kinds of websites
thrive on people who sell arrangements as opposed to original music.

Thanks again and I look forward to checking out your music!

Hey we are not that far apart. I used to go to Monroe from Monticello Arkansas back when we were in college and LA had a lower drinking age!

We should seriously talk shop sometime.

I will finish this spring with my DMA. Just waiting to defend my dissertation. I love Hattiesburg, too! Great times and great people.

Thanks for the comment. Liked your piece. Like your morning glory - they 've self-seeded all over my place - it's great.
